Old School Basketball Camp

Headed a couple of hours away for Carter and Luke's first overnight sports camp (they have done overnight church camp before).  Time for Hawes Old School Basketball Camp, staying on the campus of a school...the boys were ready for the dorm life and ready for tons of basketball.

We checked out the facility and off they went for Wed-Sat basketball camp from early in the morning till late at night.
It was hotter than hot while they were there and tense humidity...in a field house with no AC and only some fans.  During a quick water break, there was always time to stand in front of the giant fan for some relief.

They had a great time at the camp.

Carter's team made it to the camp finals so he received a medal.  Luke was the youngest in the camp.  The camp is for Carter's age and older (middle-high school) so Luke was 2 years younger than the youngest players there.  Of course he had no problem.
Carter, the more responsible one, tried to get enough sleep and make sure they got up in enough time every morning (even before the counselor would come around to wake them) because he knows Luke can take longer when tired.  Luke on the other hand was enjoying every moment of camp...even hosting a party in their room the last night, ordering pizza and all.

All that fun and he was done...holding on to his new camp basketball.

Last Day of School 2014 and Carnival Fun

Last Day of School for Carter and Luke.

Half of the Day spent at the Schoo Carnival (which a friend and I put together for a few years now).  Oh the fun despite the rain and passing thunderstorms (all before it started, thankfully).
Lots and lots of mud, some enjoyed it more than others.
And I had the best little helper all day, my Brayden.  I couldn't get him back and forth to school while helping with the carnival so his last day was the day before.

Awards for Carter (and Luke)

The 5th grade Farewell and Award Ceremony.

It is hard to believe Carter is heading to middle school.  They all looked so big coming into the room.  Most of this class, Carter has grown up with and spent many hours at school, playing, sports, afterschool, etc.  They feel like an extension of our family.

Time for awards and Carter received two!  A community award for Social Studies and Presidential Academic Excellence Award...plaque, pins and all.
He was so surprised and excited and so was I (Jeremy was away for work so I was furiously texting him the news and video).
And this great group of boys (some missing from the pic)...oh the fun.

And don't worry Luke was not to be left out...he and his girl counterpart showed everyone their new school records this year for Pacer Test and Push-ups.  These two have grown up together and still get along so well.
Later in the week, Luke received the PE award (he could not have been happier).
